Whether you are a commissioning engineer or looking to transition from traditional power into renewables, your CV is your first chance to make an impression.
At Navitas Resourcing Group, we speak to hiring managers across every sector. We know what helps candidates stand out and what gets overlooked.
Here are five quick tips to sharpen your CV and get noticed:
1. Make It Project-Specific
Generic CVs tend to fall flat. Tailor your experience to the role. If the role involves grid connection work in Germany, highlight relevant projects, regional knowledge and the technical tools you have used.
Tip: Where possible, name the project or client. This gives context and adds credibility.
2. List the Right Certifications
Professionals with the correct qualifications are far more likely to be shortlisted. Include certifications such as GWO, NEBOSH, 18th Edition, CompEx or BOSIET. If you hold key regional or client-specific approvals, list them clearly on the first page.
3. Show Results, Not Just Responsibilities
Rather than listing tasks, show what you achieved. For example, instead of saying “managed site teams”, try “led a team of 12 on a 40MW solar installation delivered on time and within budget”.
This helps hiring managers understand the value you bring.
4. Keep It Clear and Concise
Aim for no more than two pages. Use clean formatting, bullet points and clear role progression. Avoid using photos, logos or blocks of dense text. Make it easy for someone to scan your CV quickly and identify relevant experience.
5. Work With a Specialist
The renewable energy job market moves quickly. A specialist recruiter can help position your skills for the roles you want and offer access to opportunities that are not always advertised.
At Navitas, we know what employers are looking for and how to help candidates present their experience with clarity and impact.
